April 2006
The end of March saw our troops storming the hill in support of MOAA legislation goals. There is tremendous competition for dollars within the Defense Department and the Veterans Agencies and it appears that the Vets will get the short end of the stick again.

A lot of activity going on behind the scenes getting ready for the 50th Anniversary Celebration in October. This is a once in the lifetime affair and the opportunity to participate will not be repeated. Think what MOAA has done getting Tri Care for Life passed and what it has meant to your wallet and then be generous in support of our celebration.

Our April luncheon was held as usual at the McCormick Golf Club with Mike Rall of the Phoenix Police Department M-3 Municipal Military Member Support Group as our guest speaker. Terry Tassin presented Mike with a set of MOAA Tumblers.

June 2006

Mr. Harper is shown being presented with a box of MOAA Tumblers by President Dan Conway.

The June luncheon was held June 17, 2006 at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club with 39 attending. This is the last meeting until September, but the Sentinel will be published during the summer to keep the members up to date on legislative issues, 50th Anniversary preparation and other important items.

Our guest speaker was Mr. Jerry Harper Assistant Project Manager for the city of Phoenix. He brought us up to date on the many projects going on or in the planning stage for the down town area. The area is bounded roughly on the east by 7th Street, on the west by 7th Avenue, on the north by McDowell Road and on the south by Lincoln Street. A few of the projects covered were the new Convention Center, several hotels, ASU additions, Medical School, several high rise condominiums and apartments, parking lots and of course the light rail. Many of these projects will see completion in 2008.

December 2006
Saturday December 16, 2006 some of the members of the Arizona Chapter MOAA met with relatives and friends at the Memorial Service for our former Secretary and Sentinel Editor John Gerometta.

Dan Conway and Terry Tassin both spoke in behalf of John's service to MOAA. Following the service we moved on to the McCormick Ranch Golf Club for the monthly luncheon.

The slate of officers minus the Secretary was voted in.  So far, we have no volunteers for Secretary or Sentinel Editor. John will be sorely missed.

Once again, our entertainment was a singing group made up of high school students from Cortez and other high schools.
