One hundred
forty-four MOAA members, families and friends were in attendance.
Attendees represented the Superstition Mountain, Tucson, Yuma, Luke,
Northern and Arizona Chapters. The Arizona Chapter is "Arizona's First
Chapter".
The guest of honor and key note speaker was Vice Admiral Norb Ryan USN
(Ret), President of the Military Officers Association of America.
Following the cocktail hour, a dinner chime announced the "Call to
Dinner." Chapter President Dan Conway welcomed all to the occasion.
The Cortez High School NJROTC presented the colors followed by the Pledge
of Allegiance.
Beverly Poage sang a super rendition of the National Anthem and the
Invocation was given by Father Gerry Conway.
First Vice President Terry Tassin conducted the MIA/POW Missing Member
Remembrance ceremony, and acknowledged the symbolic significance of each
item mentioned. He also initiated the traditional series of service toasts
in honor of all services of MOAA.

A diet-breaking dinner was served and Vice Admiral Norb Ryan, the keynote
speaker, was introduced by Chuck Schluter.
Admiral Ryan spoke on the missions of MOAA and the force of the many
members of the Association shaping legislation that benefit veterans
including active duty, reservists, and the National Guard.
He presented President Dan Conway with the 50th year certificate.
Dan, in
turn presented the Admiral with a $1,000 check for the MOAA Scholarship
Fund.

Dan also presented a check to COL Rick Palmatier (AZARNG) on the
behalf of the Arizona Guard and Reserve Families Relief Fund.
Father Conway gave the Benediction.
The Rags Allen Trio was
introduced for the dancing pleasure of all. This excellent trio consists of
Rags Allen on keyboard, Ron Lowry on drums and Marty Ramirez on sax, guitar
and violin.
