Gary Fredricks is our Legislative Representative and has served in that
capacity since January 2005. He represents our Chapter in various Federal
and State/Local capacities and reports related legislative activities to the
Chapter membership on a monthly basis. Those legislative reports can be
viewed in The Sentinel section elsewhere in this website
Upon relocating to the Phoenix area in 2003, Gary assumed the duties of
Chapter 1st Vice President and then was elected to the position of
President. Upon completion of his year as Chapter President, Col
Fredricks was elected President of the Arizona Council of Chapters in which
capacity he served for two years. In 2008, Gary was elected to a six-year
term on the MOAA national Board of Directors and assumed those duties in
November 2008. Gary is heavily involved in other veteran’s activities in
the state of Arizona. He is the 'Immediate Past Chairman' of the Unified Arizona Veterans (UAV), a
consortium of over 35 veteran’s service organizations in Arizona.
Among other UAV activities devoted to fostering the welfare of Arizona
veterans their families and their survivors, UAV manages the Arizona
Veteran’s Hall of Fame program which selects and nominates to the Governor
each year Arizonans who have worn the uniform of this Nation’s Armed Forces,
performed their military duties honorably, and then continued to contribute
to community, state and nation in an exemplary manner.
Col Fredricks is also the Vice-Chairman on the Arizona Veteran’s Services
Advisory Commission, providing policy advice on veteran’s affairs to the
Governor and to the Director, Arizona Department of Veteran’s Services. He
also serves on the Enduring Freedom Memorial Commission and the Arizona
Attorney General’s Military and Veteran’s Advisory Council.
